Throughout my secondary school and university years, I have worked and volunteered supporting children, youth and adults with special needs and mental wellness. It has been a privilege to engage with individuals in settings such as drop-in centers, child protectives services, libraries, group homes and school boards. My passion found me as I continued to engage in meaningful support and practice with young adults. Graduating with a Bachelor of Social Work partnered with my passion for supporting young people, allows me to engage in meaningful and holistic practice with the students I support at Checkered Door Academy. This Community Agency offers a unique and much-needed program for individuals leaving secondary school to assist in the development of knowledge and skills to live more independently and fully. Checkered Door Academy is a valuable Community Service Provider, bridging the gap between secondary school and planning for transition to adulthood. I am proud to be on board!
